Brock Lesnar delivered a strong putdown to former World Middleweight Title Challenger Chael Sonnen today on ESPN when Jim Rome asked the World Heavyweight Champion for his response to clips of Chael Sonnen saying that “I’d slap you in your face and you wouldn’t do anything about it, Brock”. Instead of attacking Sonnen, Lesnar acted nonplussed saying “I don’t know who he is” and asking “Is he a fighter?”.
When the programme came back after a commercial break, Lesnar continued to stress his ignorance of who Sonnen is. The question of course is whether Lesnar is genuinely unaware of the man who dominated MMA headlines in August and September or whether he was reigning ignorance. Either way, accidentally or intentionally he certainly put Chael Sonnen in his place.
