With UFC 111 bringing the Ultimate Fighting Championship back to the tri-state area this weekend, the promotion has been intelligently engaging the NYC-based fan base, taking full advantage of the proximity to drum up support among New York fans.

Case in point, yesterday’s pre-fight press conference was here in New York at Radio City Music Hall and at the event, UFC President Dana White confirmed that all tickets have been accounting for Saturday night’s event, taking place this Saturday at the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ.

“This show is sold out. It sold out immediately. We’re gonna have over 17,000 at the arena,” said White, “This thing is doing a gate of $4 million.”

With such a hefty gate, the money generated would rival the gate revenue generated by events such as UFC 94 featuring Georges St-Pierre vs. B.J. Penn II and UFC 71 featuring Quinton Jackson vs. Chuck Liddell II, each of which generated roughly $4.3 million.
