Pro Elite held their latest MMA event at the Neal S. Blaisdell Center in Honolulu, Hawaii. The card was headlined by former UFC Heavyweight champion, Andrei Arlovski and former professional boxer Ray Lopez and The Ultimate Fighter 3 winner Kendall Grove took on fellow UFC veteran Joe Riggs in the main event.
On the Main Card:
Kendall Grove vs Joe Riggs
In a rematch from 2004, Kendall Grove was aiming for redemption against Joe Riggs in the main event. When they fought back in 2004 Grove’s was only in his 2nd pro fight but now they are both seasoned fighters and 28 years old.
Grove who was the TUF Season 3 winner was fighting in his hometown. ‘Da Spyda’ Grove wrapped his arms around Riggs and at 0:59 of round 1, he executed the Guillotine choke perfectly which forced Riggs to tapout.
Andrei Arlovski vs Ray Lopez
Former UFC champion, Andrei Arlovski dominated the fight against former pro boxer, Ray Lopez.
Most of the fight was played out from the ground with Andrei taking the dominant position and Lopez had no answer.
The ref stopped the bout at in round 3 after an Arlovski onslaught on the floor and was awarded a technical knockout win. He improves his MMA record to (16-9).
Reagan Penn vs Paul Gardner
BJ Penn’s brother Reagan made a successful MMA debut with a victory at 1.10 in round 1 by a rear naked choke tapout over Paul Gardner.
Jake Heun vs Mark Ellis
Ellis defeated Heun via submission (rear-naked choke) at 2:29 of round 2.
Sara McMann vs Raquel Pa’aluhi
McMann defeated Pa’aluhi via submission (arm-lock) at 2:53 of round 3.
Drew McFedries vs Garrett Olson
McFedries defeated Olson via TKO (punches) at 4:04 of round 2.
On the Preliminary Card:
- Kaleo Gambill defeated Sale Sproat via TKO (strikes) at 1:31 of round 1.
- Dustin Barca defeated Reno Remigio by TKO (doctor stoppage) at 5:00 of round 2.
- Brent Schermerhorn defeated Jesse Lundgren via TKO (punches) at 1:38 of round 1.
- Joey Palemia defeated Chad Thomas via decision.
